Woodforest Supplier Golf Tournament raises $205,000 for Woodforest Charitable Foundation
THE WOODLANDS, TX – The 5th Annual Woodforest Supplier Charity Golf Tournament was held at the Woodforest Golf Club in Montgomery, Texas, on March 23, 2011, raising $205,000 for the Woodforest Charitable Foundation. The tournament, which has contributed annually to the Foundation over the past five years, was developed to build long-term relationships between Suppliers and Woodforest Bank Managers, while raising funds for the Foundation.
“The commitment of our suppliers and the hard work of our volunteers have enabled us to achieve our goal. We combine a day of fun with business, and raise funds for a very worthy cause. It is an extremely rewarding event for everyone involved,” explained the tournament’s director Bruce Bernhoft, Procurement Manager, Woodforest National Bank.
The event continues to become more successful in its fund-raising and relationship-building each year. The first Tournament, held in March 2007, raised $60,378.00 with 36 vendor sponsors. This year's tournament netted $140,000.00 more than the first tournament with fewer sponsors, offering Woodforest Executives more one-on-one time with each of the 21 sponsors.
Golfers enjoyed various contests throughout the day, including the “Beat the Boss Challenge”, where Robert Marling, CEO, Woodforest National Bank, met, challenged, and played with each team in the tournament as they came through Hole #2. The “One-Armed Bandit”, Larry Alford, was waiting on Hole #16 to challenge the skills of each team in his Bandit Challenge.
