Woodforest Charitable Foundation donates $2,000 to St. Louis Area Foodbank
BRIDGETON, MO – St. Louis Area Foodbank received a $2,000 contribution from Woodforest Charitable Foundation. The donation will support the Foodbank’s Commodity Supplemental Food Program.
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program serves a vulnerable population that is already having difficulties financially and medically. The program provides supplemental foods, nutrition education, and information about other health services to income-eligible elderly women and men; low-income women; and children up to 6 years of age who have medical or nutritional risk factors. Participants receive a monthly food package that includes items such as canned meat, vegetables, fruits, fruit juices, potatoes, and hot and cold cereal. “Woodforest Charitable Foundation’s gift will insure thousands of needy citizens consistent nutrition throughout the year,” says Frank Finnegan, Executive Director of St. Louis Area Foodbank. “We thank you for helping us put a smile on the faces of people in need.”
The St. Louis Area Foodbank began its service to the community in 1975. Since that time, the Foodbank has grown to become the Bi-State region’s largest non-profit 501(c)(3) food distribution center. Each week, an estimated 57,000 people rely upon the St. Louis Area Foodbank for food assistance. The Foodbank is dedicated to feeding those in need and accomplishes their mission by distributing food through partner agencies and educating the public about the nature of and solutions to the problems of hunger.
