Woodforest Supplier Golf Tournament raises $210,000 for the Woodforest Charitable Foundation
THE WOODLANDS, Texas (March 30, 2010) - The 4th Annual Woodforest Supplier Charity Golf Tournament was held at the Woodforest Golf Club in Magnolia, Texas, on March 24, 2010, raising $210,000.00 for the Woodforest Charitable Foundation. The Tournament, which has significantly contributed to the Foundation for the past four years, was developed to build long-term relationships between vendors and Woodforest bank managers, while raising funds for the Foundation.
“The commitment of our suppliers and the hard work of our volunteers have enabled us to achieve our goal. We combine a day of fun with business, and raise funds for a very worthy cause. It is an extremely rewarding event for everyone involved,” explained the tournament’s founder, Bruce Bernhoft, Procurement Manager, Woodforest National Bank.
The event continues to become more successful in its fund-raising and relationship-building each year. The first Tournament, held in March 2007, raised $60,378.00 with 36 vendor sponsors. This year’s tournament netted $145,000.00 more than the first tournament and offered Woodforest Executives a great opportunity for one-on-one time with each of the sponsors.
Golfers enjoyed various contests throughout the day, including the “Beat the Boss Challenge,” where Robert Marling, President & CEO, Woodforest National Bank, met, challenged, and played a hole with each team in the tournament as they came through Hole #2. Golfers also competed for the chance to win a $1,000,000 Shootout contest, a $100,000 putting contest and $50,000 for a Hole-In-One.
Congratulations to the first place team, sponsored by United Healthcare, which shot a score of 62 and included Tim Wier and Andy Martinez of United Healthcare; Ray Sanders, President of Woodforest National Bank; and Jerry Orebaugh of Woodforest Financial Services.
