MUNCIE, IN – Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana recently received a $1,670 donation from Woodforest Charitable Foundation.  Established in 1983, the Food Bank’s mission is to provide a coordinated approach to alleviating hunger in East Central Indiana. This donation will support the Food Bank’s privately funded feeding programs for children and seniors at risk of hunger.

Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana began its service in 1983 to provide a coordinated approach to alleviating hunger in East Central Indiana. Because hunger is a reality to more than 72,000 people in East Central Indiana, the Food Bank actively advocates for public policy that supports ending hunger. By continuing to focus on the nutritional value of food distributed with emphasis on your disbursements, Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana strives to be a resource for the most vulnerable people and assists in making clients hunger free.

With the donations received from community food drives, retail partnerships and the Feeding America network, the Food Bank works to provide solutions to the hunger crisis through programs such as The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), the  Tailgate Program (mobile food pantry), the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP),  and national children's programs of Feeding America (BackPack Program and Kids Cafe).  In addition, Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana is constantly looking into new programs that will help fight hunger in East Central Indiana.

“As we take our first steps into our first steps in to our 30th year, we will focus leveraging all our efforts for the greatest possible impact to our region. We want to remain food stewards of the time, talent, and resources that you offer to partner with us.
