Woodforest Charitable Foundation Donates $7,125 to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank
GROVE CITY, OH– Woodforest Charitable Foundation contributes $7,125 to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. The donation will support its Take Home Groceries and Backpack Program.
Established in 1980, the Mid-Ohio Foodbank distributes over 31 million pounds of food each year, enabling its partner agencies across 20 counties to provide food for more than 51,000 meals each week. The Foodbank’s efforts help stock the shelves of food pantries, soup kitchens and emergency shelters throughout central and eastern Ohio. As a member of the nation's largest non-governmental, domestic hunger relief organization, Mid-Ohio Foodbank’s goal is to make food accessible to hungry people in their greatest times of need.
The Mid-Ohio Foodbank serves a vital need through its Take Home Groceries and Backpack Program. The Program allows children to bring home nutritious food when other resources are not available, such as on the weekends or during school vacations. Backpacks are filled with child-friendly, non-perishable, and vitamin fortified food, as well as educational activities. The backpacks are then discreetly distributed to at-risk children every Friday. “In these trying economic times, more and more families have had to seek food assistance because of layoffs or cutbacks,” said Matt Habash, President/CEO of Mid-Ohio Foodbank. “Woodforest Charitable Foundation’s contribution makes it possible for hungry children and their families to obtain the meals they need. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated.”
