Woodforest Charitable Foundation Donates $5,000 to Interfaith of The Woodlands’ Serving Our Seniors event
The Woodlands, Texas (March, 2010)- Each Spring, Interfaith of The Woodlands hosts its annual Serving Our Seniors (SOS), and on Saturday, March 6, 2010, more than 370 community seniors were helped when over 330 youth, civic group and corporate volunteers assisted them through various home projects.
“I truly love this program as we together help our community neighbors,” said Dr. Ann Snyder, President and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands. “I would like to thank The Woodforest Charitable Foundation for once again sponsoring this wonderful event. It makes an incredible difference in our service area.”
The Woodforest Charitable Foundation presented a $5,000 check the morning of “SOS” which provided funding for this year’s program.
At the independent homes, volunteers performed a number of projects and several major repairs. At one site, volunteers helped a senior with plumbing issues within his home and yard work. At several other sites, volunteers helped to repair damaged fencing and performed house cleaning.
James Creighton, a senior participant shared, “It is great to have all the people helping me. I am grateful for their assistance and company. I just don’t want you to go.”
Volunteers also held car washes at all senior living communities where residents waited to get their cars cleaned.
