Woodforest Charitable Foundation donates $1,000 to Food Finders Food Bank, Inc.
LAFAYETTE, IN – Food Finders Food Bank receives a $1,000 donation from Woodforest Charitable Foundation in support of their Back Pack Program.
To combat childhood hunger, Food Finders Food Bank implemented its Back Pack Program in 2009. The mission of the Back Pack Program is to help alleviate child hunger by providing underserved children with nutritious and easy to prepare food at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school holidays. The program provides back packs filled with food that is child-friendly, shelf-stable and easily consumed. The back packs are discreetly distributed to over 2,000 children each week. “With Woodforest Charitable Foundation’s generous support, Food Finders Food Bank will continue its ability to feed those that are hungry,” said Katy O’Malley Bunder, Executive Director of Food Finders Food Bank, Inc. “Your gift to our Back Pack Program will change the lives of many children in need.”
Since 1981, Food Finders Food Bank has been a critical component of the welfare of 16 counties in Indiana, providing food to member agencies, advocating for the hungry and educating the public about hunger related issues. Each year, Food Finders Food Bank distributes more than 2.5 million pounds of food to a network of 150 non-profit organizations that work to alleviate hunger throughout north Indiana.
